LED technology
LED (Light-emitting diode) technology is becoming more and more important in the world market of illumination, thanks to the numerous features which make it superior to other traditional light sources allowing savings of up to 80% of electricity for the same amount of emitted light.
The luminous efficiency of LEDs continues to reach higher values and already theoretical border of 300 Lumens per Watt is reached in laboratory conditions.
LED are semi-conductor diodes which, when electricity passes through them, emit a monochromatic light. The Colour of the light depends on the type of impurity purposely inserted into the chip.
Long life time
A fundamental feature of LED is their long life as they can work above 100’000 hours as long as two fundamental requisites are respected: work temperature and voltage.
Energy saving
Using LED technology substantial savings in electrical energy can be made keeping same illuminance level.
Test results in laboratory proves savings in energy consumptions switching from traditional lighting sources to LED technology
T8 luminaire 4x18W with magnetic ballasts consumes 88.2W
LED luminaire 28,8W
Note: up to 16,2 EUR can be saved every year, if used 9 hours per day (based on 0,12 EUR/kW)
