ILLUMINATION CONTROL SYSTEMS

 

Light plays a huge role in today’s world and it goes far beyond the limits of simple illumination. However, it seems rather difficult to control such miracles as multifunctional illumination or light atmosphere changes in accordance with the situation. This problem could be solved by implementation of an illumination control system. Northcliffe offers illumination control systems, designed and developed by the leading European company Helvar.
Illumination control system unites all the light sources in the building and gives an opportunity to control each of them individually from any location. Such a system allows to control illumination as much as possible, starting from illumination control in one room and extending to its control in as many premises as necessary, even having difficult configurations.
Illumination control system could be integrated into the general control scheme of other components, such as an alarm system, media and etc., in such a way improving the efficiency of service.
The cost-effectiveness and possibility of illumination sources self –adjustments seems to be one more obvious benefit of the system.
The range of illumination control systems is quite wide. The most simple one is a standard combination of several light scenarios, preprogrammed in the central control unit. This option is best solution for small premises, such as cafes, separate rooms in the apartments, cottages, offices, director’s rooms, presentation rooms, bars, saunas, restaurants, cinema theatres, boutiques and etc.
Upon the requests of the client, the system could be adjusted to a more sophisticated one. In such a case, a special illumination design is drawn. Such individual complex designs are realized through the adoption of multiple control units corresponding between each other. The more difficult project, the easier solution with the help of illumination control system.

Lighting system components

 

The SENSE allows advanced lighting control features from a minimal package. Three inbuilt sensors create opportunity for energy saving. Flexible smart control of up to 4 digitally controllable (DALI) ballasts.

MIMO3 is a cylindrical light sensor that can be fitted into a luminaire casing. By using T5 or T8 mounting brackets sensor can also be retrofitted to existing luminaries. MIMO3  is connected directly to the control input of electronic controllable ballast (1-10V).

Modular ballast controller offers (1-10V) ballast control together with a mains power switch. The TK4 is styles to compliment the DIGIDIM panel range and offers tha same flexibility that the modular concept provides, which allows any mix of TK4 and DIGIDIM control panels.

Remote 304 is a handheld unit that can be used to control basic system functions as on/off, increasing and decreasing the general light level and the section of four scenes. Could be used for simple systems programming.

Operating range is 5 meters.

 

The Multisensor is a compact unit containing the necessary sensors to provide energy saving functions. It has a constant light sensor, passive infra-red detector (PIR) and infra-red receiver for the Infrared Remote. The Multisensor is designed to push fit into a ceiling or luminary housing.

Modular control panels are a fully DALI compatible range of user interface that allow basic adjustments to the system. The range includes a pushbutton, rotary and slider controls in a range of panel finishes.

LCD touch panel. The most commonly used interface in a lighting control system are control panels. A range of decorative face plates to suit every different décor and scenario. The control panels allow a user designing, programming and controlling the system by recalling the scenes at the touch of a button.

The DIGIDIM Router uses standard Ethernet communication to combine multiple DALI networks. The router features two DALI universes allowing for a total of 128 control devices and load interfaces.

Wall mounted dimmer for use in a DIGIDIM lighting control system. Suitable for tungsten, halogen, low voltage tungsten or neon loads. Different power dimmers available such as 16A, 25A or 8x5A.

DIN rail dimmer for use in a DIGIDIM lighting control system. Suitable for tungsten, halogen, low voltage tungsten or neon loads. Different power dimmers available such as 500W and 1000W. No programming required when using DIGIDIM slider, rotary, or push button panels.

Blinds controller  designed for control of blinds and curtains. Two independent control channels each with two single pole, volt free contacts for switching up/down or power/direction motors. Programmable “blind travel time”.

Relay unit designed to allow control of non-dimmable loads. Unit is DIN-rail mounted , can have 4 or 8 channels, each channel individually programmable.

Fully DALI compatible Power supply unit  designed to provide a DIGIDIM system with the required supply of up to 250mA. DIN-rail mounted.

Input unit is a fully DALI compatible interface, designed to allow customer specified switches, sensors, time clocks or other on/off control devices to be incorporated into a DIGIDIM lighting control system.

Detector PIR 311

 

The 311 is a compact PIR detector for flush ceiling mounting. Having a detection field of 7m at a mounting height of 2.8m, this sensor is ideal where automatic turning on when a room is occupied, and off when the room is vacated.
• IR Receiver receives programming commands from the 307 infrared handset (available separately).
• Programmable using the IR Remote.  Full system access is available using Helvar’s lighting system design and control software; Designer, and DIGIDIM Toolbox.

 

 

Detector MW 313

 

 

The 313 detects movement using a highly sensitive ceiling mounted microwave detector. It works by emitting low-power microwave signals and measuring the reflections as the signal bounces off moving objects. The 313 has a circular detection field with a diameter of 12m – 16m at a mounting height of 2.8m. With this coverage area, it can be seen that a single 313 sensor can be used to control lighting over a much larger area, reducing the number of sensors required in, for instance, an
open plan office area.

Detector MW 314

 

The 314 is also a microwave detector. Again, it works by emitting low-power microwave signals and measuring the reflections as the signal bounces off moving objects. However the detection field for this device is a long narrow beam for use in corridors and aisle ways. The sensor can detect movement up to 30m range.

Simple solutions

 

 

Simple classroom solution. Keeps constant light level combining daylight and artificial light. Using Mimo2 sensor and controllable (DIM) ballasts, fittings could be arranged in groups or act as individual units depending on illumination requirements. Substantial savings could be achieved.

 

 Simple office solution. Light level adjusted manually using TK4 (switch+dim) panel and controllable (DIM) ballasts. Dimming of the fluorescent lamps down to 1% can be achieved using TK4.

 

Cost effective meeting room. Luminaries fitted with controllable (DIM) ballasts combined with one or more momentary switches. Quick push of the button toggles lights on and off, and long press fades the lamps up or down. Solution allows multiple control points by simply connecting switches in parallel.

 

Efficient office solution. Luminaries fitted with digitally controlled (DALI) ballasts, gives individual control of each fitting. Multiple light scenes could be stored and recalled at the press of a button using different Modular panels. Incorporated Multisensor prevents lighting of unused offices and reduces lighting level when sufficient natural light exists. Possible remote control.

 

Open plan office solution.  Luminaries fitted with digitally controlled (DALI) ballasts and Minisensor2, gives individual control of each fitting. Combined into system multipoint control of overall office is achieved. Existing luminaries could be reprogrammed if the functionality of the area changes. Energy savings are achieved through combination of presence detection, constant light functionality and individual dimming of each work area. Control of lights can be manual or automated for user comfort.
